Water Damage Restoration Following Roof Leak

8/18/2021 (Permalink)

Containment and scaffolding This photo was taken during the mitigation phase. A roof leak caused significant damage to the first and second floors.

Baldwin County is located directly in between Mobile and Pensacola, the two rainiest cities in the US. It's safe to say that we get our share of rain here. Already in 2021, our area has exceeded precipitation accumulation rates from this point last year. This is why it is so important to have roof leaks repaired as quickly as possible. If left undetected, roof leaks can have disastrous consequences such as mold and rot.

Recent Damage

This recent damage was the result of a long term roof leak that caused significant water damage on two floors, along with mold and rot. When performing mold remediation, and some times water mitigation, it is important to isolate the work area in order to prevent cross contamination. At this recent damage, our team immediately set up containment barriers so that the water mitigation could be performed in a way that prevents secondary damage to the structure. They also protected the undamaged floor so that paint, debris, and scaffolding would not harm it. They utilized scaffolding to secure the containment barriers and perform necessary demo on the ceiling and upper wall areas. Due to the presence of mold, we utilized air scrubbers and dehumidification rather than air movers that would have circulated contaminants. Following the mitigation and remediation, our team moved into the next phase: reconstruction.
